My name is Kathleen Oravec and I am a Sacramento marriage and family therapist intern. I offer psychotherapy and counseling services to adults (both men and women) as well as teens/adolescents (Learn about my parenting group for mothers of teens).

Prior to becoming a therapist I worked in a wide variety of settings with the public: With children, adolescents and their families, and while serving as a counselor in group homes and in the schools. I also worked in the business sector. Presently I work full-time with clients at a Sacramento mental health center, in addition to my private counseling practice.

In all of these roles and settings I have honed the ability to rapidly assess, analyze and identify patterns and to apply problem-solving skills. I can bring all of these skills and abilities to bear on your concerns. I'll be a supportive listener and guide and a sounding board. Together we'll create a compassionate safe place where you can experience the relief of feeling heard, validated, and receiving the help you need to deal with life's quandaries.

Since I am still an intern (working under the supervision of Approved MFTI Supervisor Deborah Cohen, LMFT) I have the ability to offer a fee that is at 80.00 per 60 minute session. This is considerably lower than that the fees charged by many MFT Interns others in the area. Additionally, with documentation of income (such as last year's W-2 form), I am able to negotiate a lower sliding-scale fee if you are experiencing financial hardship.
