Kathleen Oravec, MFT Intern Sacramento Therapist About Me
I earned my M.A. in 2007 as a graduate of the University of San Francisco's Counseling Psychology Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Program. My undergraduate degree (B.A. Journalism) was completed at Penn State University. I am in the process of completing the supervision requirements for the Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist credential. My licensed supervisor is Deborah Cohen, LMFT.
Presently, in addition to my private psychotherapy practice in Midtown Sacramento, I work full-time at a mental health treatment center performing client intakes and assessments. I deal with adults experiencing many kinds of psychological distress and emotional pain.
My role is to very quickly assess and identify what is going on with each person so that they can get the best help possible. Often I interface with their families in the intake process as well.
In the past I worked with children and their families in a variety of settings including work in schools as an on-site outpatient counselor dealing with family, school, and personal issues. I have also worked in group home settings with developmentally disabled children, teens in crisis and emotionally disturbed adolescents.
Other experience has included work with the public in the business sector in hotels, the broadcasting industry, and with the airlines; including supervisory and management roles.
My varied work experiences enrich my professional clinical work with clients by giving me a breadth of perspective on life and problem-solving strategies.
Helping people through counseling and psychotherapy is my passion. I would welcome the opportunity to work with you as your therapist to help you realize your goals and dreams. Please give me a call at 916-714-0750 for a free, 15-minute telephone consultation, or email me.
